Phenakistoscope of the Magpie's Flight

Artist Statement: I really wanted to play with the idea of using the animation technique of a phenakistoscope on one of the round canvases.

I'd seen flocks of black andcwhite magpies flying over the fields and thought they looked as graphic as the cows did. So I wanted to add one flying across my painting in flight.

I blurred the paint around the edge,  as the magpie would fly through, but kept the landscape and sky more in focus, always present. 

I would love to see how this looks spinning, so hopefully I can get round to testing that."
